Como campeones de la justicia, continúan siendo un símbolo de esperanza y valor para todo el mundo... excepto para los villanos a los que una vez derrotaron. Nova tiene una razón de peso para odiar a esos Renegados, y quiere venganza. Mientras se acerca cada vez más a su objetivo, conocerá a Adrian, un Renegado que cree en la justicia, y en Nova. Pero Nova solo le es leal a los villanos, y ellos, además, tienen el poder suficiente como para acabar con ambos.

Opinión:

Siendo sincera, nunca había leído a Marissa Meyer aunque tengo algunos de sus libros en casa. Y, la verdad es que me ha encantado! Cuándo vi que editorial Hidra iba a sacar este libro y todas las buenas críticas que tenía, tuve que leerlo. ¿Villanos y héroes? ¿Intrigas, peligros y traiciones? Tiene mi nombre escrito. Y la preciosa portada en tonos azules me enamoró. 

Pasando a la historia, encontramos una época en la que existen personas con poderes, llamados prodigios que, según nos muestra la autora, no están aceptados y de hecho son a la vez temidos y marginados por la sociedad. Este hecho provoca que los prodigios se unan en una lucha por la supervivencia y la aceptación que, debido a sus actos hace que se acaben convirtiendo en villanos. En este mundo, encontramos a Nova, nuestra protagonista, alias Pesadilla (obviamente, necesitan nombres que describen sus habilidades), que está con los Anarquistas, grupo liderado por Ace Anarchy. Ella lo pierde todo cuando un asesino mata a su familia y culpa a los Renegados, los héroes de la historia, por no salvarlos. Después de la caída de los villanos, los héroes suben al poder y los pocos villanos que quedan tienen que vivir en el anonimato. Hasta que un día, en una misión por intentar acabar con los héroes, Nova falla y se da a conocer, cosa que hace que Pesadilla se ponga en el punto de mira, no solo de los Renegados, sino también del Centinela un extraño prodigio que tiene varios poderes y que por poco consigue atraparla. A partir de allí, deciden cambiar de estrategia y Nova debe infiltrarse en los Renegados bajo el seudónimo de Insomnia. Y hasta aquí os voy a contar...

La trama me ha parecido muy intrigante desde el primer momento. Fue empezar y no poder parar de leer hasta el final. Me encantan esos libros en los que nunca acabas de discernir entre el bien y el mal y en este libro Meyer lo ha bordado! Te encuentras en una encrucijada en la que te puedes sentir identificado con los dos bandos puesto que, ni los villanos son tan malos ni los héroes tan buenos. Los personajes principales, Nova y Adrian, tienen mucha profindidad. Ambos tienen sus ideales muy claros, pero a menudo se encuentran en encrucijadas en las que se plantean, en el caso de Nova, si todo lo que ha creído hasta ahora es tan cierto y si sus aliados son verdaderamente aliados, o en el caso de Adrian, si seguir las normas estipuladas en todo momento puede ayudar a conseguir sus metas.

En resumen, Meyer ha bordado el libro. Es muy fluido y no hay ningún momento en el que la acción o la trama decaiga. Si sois amantes de las películas de héroes, en las que los villanos tienen trasfondo, este es vuestro libro. Estoy deseando leer ya la segunda parte!

Opinion:

To be honest, I had never read Marissa Meyer although I have some of her books at home. And, the truth is that I loved it! When I saw that Hidra editorial was going to get this book and all the good reviews it has, I had to read it. Villains and heroes? Intrigues, dangers and betrayals? It has my name written. And the beautiful cover in blue tones made me fall in love with it.

Turning to the history, we find a time in which there are people with powers, called prodigies that, according to the author, are not accepted and in fact are both feared and marginalized by society. This fact causes the prodigies to join in a struggle for survival and acceptance, and due to their actions, they end up becoming villains. In this world, we find Nova, our protagonist, aka Nightmare (obviously, they need names that describe their abilities), who is with the Anarchists, a group led by Ace Anarchy. She loses everything when a murderer kills her family and blames the Renegades, the heroes of the story, for not saving them. After the fall of the villains, the heroes rise to power and the few remaining villains have to live in anonymity. Until one day, in a mission to try to kill the heroes, Nova fails and makes herself known, which makes that Nightmare is put in the spotlight, not only of the Renegades, but also of the Sentinel a strange prodigy that has several powers and that almost manages to catch her. From there, they decide to change strategy and Nova must infiltrate into the Renegades under the pseudonym Insomnia. And I can only say until here...

The plot is very intriguing to me from the very first moment. It was starting it and not being able to stop reading until the end. I love those books in which you never quite discern between good and evil and in this book Meyer has nailed it! You are at a crossroads where you can feel identified with both sides since, neither the villains are so bad nor the heroes so good. The main characters, Nova and Adrian, have a lot of proficenity. Both have their ideals very clear, but often they are at crossroads where they consider, in the case of Nova, if everything she has believed so far is so true and if her allies are truly allies, or in the case of Adrian, if following the stipulated rules at all times can help him achieve his goals.

In conclusion, Meyer has nailed the book. It is very fluid and there is no moment in which the action or the plot decays. If you're a fan of superhero movies, where the villains have backgrounds, this is your book. I am looking forward to reading the second part!
