Con una colección de diecisiete corazones de príncipes en su haber, Lira es una sirena venerada en todos los confines del reino submarino. Pero un desliz provoca que su madre, la Reina del Mar, transforme a Lira en lo que más aborrece: un ser humano. Privada de su voz, Lira dispondrá hasta el solsticio de invierno para entregar el corazón del Príncipe Elian a la Reina del Mar o permanecer como humana para siempre. 

A pesar de ser el heredero del reino más poderoso de la Tierra, para el Príncipe Elian el océano es su verdadero hogar; y dar caza a las sirenas, su misión en la vida. Cuando rescata a una mujer a punto de morir ahogada, sabe que es más de lo que aparenta, pero ella promete ayudarlo a encontrar la clave para destruir a todas las sirenas para siempre. 

¿Podrá Elian confiar en su palabra? ¿Y hasta dónde tendrá que ceder para erradicar al más temible enemigo del hombre?

La sirenita es mi cuento infantil favorito desde bien pequeñita, así que ya os podéis imaginar la alegría que tuve cuándo vi que habían hecho un retelling además con un tono más oscuro que, como fan de Tim Burton y Edgar Allan Poe, hizo que mis ganas de leerlo fueran aún más grandes.

Lira, nuestra protagonista es la sirena más temida de todas y con una predicción en matar a ni más ni menos que a príncipes. Cuando empieza la novela tiene diecisiete corazones en su posesión, aún y así comete un desliz y su madre la castiga transformándola en humana, sin su voz y fuerza. Lira dispondrá hasta el solsticio de invierno para entregar el corazón del Príncipe Elian, el heredero más poderoso del reino y el mayor cazador de sirenas además de pirata a la Reina del Mar. Para ello, se "infiltra" en el barco pero una vez allí, bueno, digamos que la cosa se tuerce, tendréis que leerlo para averiguarlo.

El personaje de Lira evoluciona mucho durante el libro. Es la imagen viva de la fuerza e independencia con un toque rebelde. Y Elian es la viva imagen de la lealtad y coraje que caracterizan a un príncipe, o pirata. Tengo que decir que estoy enamoradísima de la relación, no amorosa, que mantienen los dos durante el libro.

En fin, la adaptación oscura de mi cuento favorito no ha hecho más que incrementar mi pasión por el mar y el mundo de las sirenas y los piratas. 100% recomendable, os va a enganchar desde la primera página.

Opinion:

The little mermaid is my favorite childhood story since I was very little, so you can imagine the joy I had when I saw that they had also done a retelling with a darker tone that, as a fan of Tim Burton and Edgar Allan Poe, made my aim to read it even bigger.

Lira, our protagonist is the most feared siren of all and with a prediction to kill no less than princes. When the novel begins, she has seventeen hearts in her possession, yet she commits a slip and his mother punishes her by transforming her into a human, without her voice and strength. Lira will have until the winter solstice to deliver the heart of Prince Elian, the most powerful heir of the kingdom and the greatest mermaid hunter as well as pirate, to the Queen of the Sea. For this, she "infiltrates" into the ship but once there, well, let's say that things get twisted, you'll have to read it to find out.

The character of Lira evolves a lot during the book. It is the living image of strength and independence with a rebellious touch. And Elian is the living image of loyalty and courage that characterize a prince, or pirate. I have to say that I am very much in love with the relationship, not loving, that the two maintain during the book.

Long story short, the dark adaptation of my favorite story has only increased my passion for the sea and the world of sirens and pirates. 100% recommended, you will be hooked from the first page.
